Data Methodology
KaratIndex is committed to providing hyper-accurate, real-time gold and global currency data. This page details exactly how our prices are sourced and calculated to ensure you make safe and informed financial decisions.
1. Real-Time Spot Price Sourcing
Our base price for pure gold (24K USD per Troy Ounce) is fetched via premium tier-1 API providers connected directly to global bullion markets (including LBMA and COMEX). This data is queried in real-time to guarantee latency-free accuracy.
2. Karat Value Calculations
To calculate prices for lesser-purity karats, we apply standard industry mathematical formulas reflecting pure gold content:
- 24K: 99.9% (السعر الأساسي / Base Price)
- 22K: (22/24) × 24K ≈ 91.6%
- 21K: (21/24) × 24K = 87.5%
- 18K: (18/24) × 24K = 75.0%
- 14K: (14/24) × 24K ≈ 58.3%
3. Currency and Weight Conversions
Global and regional fiat exchange rates (SAR, AED, GBP, EUR, etc.) are updated synchronously with the gold spot prices.
Weight conversions are strictly based on the standard Troy Ounce, which mathematically equates to 31.1034768 grams.
4. Local Markets & Making Charges
Prices displayed on KaratIndex represent the raw melt value of gold as a financial asset. They explicitly DO NOT include local retail markups, dealer premiums, making charges (Al-Masnaiya), or regional taxes (like VAT), which vary heavily between jewelers.
